Italian style mandorlas

Ingredients:
4 egg whites
1/2 tsp almond extract
500g almond meal
1 3/4 cups castor sugar
2 tsp baking powder
200g glace cherries halved
1 cup icing sugar mixture

Directions:

Whip the egg whites until fluffy, add the extract. Mix the almond meal, sugar and baking powder together. Gradually add to the egg whites and mix til a firmish dough. Roll tablespoon of the mix I to balls, and coat with the icing sugar. Place on baking sheet and press cherry half onto top of biscuit. Bake at 170° for about 12-15 minutes.
